Hello, what's your name? O: My name is Omar Omar. So Omar, we're doing this project about the Crawford Community and see how your opinions and how you think about it. The first question is what was it like when you first moved to this neighborhood? O: When I first moved to the neighborhood it was real loud, it was kinda chaotic. It was different from where I was first born, so I kind of had some weird first impressions when I moved here. Where were you born? O: I was born in La Mesa. So, what kind of vibe do you get from this neighborhood? Do you feel like its safe, or, if you're comfortable? O: Well, since I grew up here, I feel comfortable now, but like, I wouldn't say safe, I think its far from safe, but it's home. Growing up, what kind of people did you surround yourself with? O: Growing I usually surrounded myself with family, and people similar to me, in just wanting to pursue further education and be athletic, and just life a life so, I never really had problems with gangs or anythin, I was always focused with myself. Do you think your familu accepts the different cultures of the City Heights community and Crawford area? O: Yeah, I think my family actually enjoys it a lot. We get along with everyone and seeing so many different faces is good for us. Where do you like to hang out with family and friends in this neighborhood? O: We hang out at Colina Park, there's a lot of families and a lot of recreational things to do. There's a basketball court, there's a nice field, so, usually when we're hanging out together as a family, we're at Colina. How would you describe the City Heights neighborhood to someone who'd never been there before? O: I would describe it as very diverse, and how everyone gets along, we're sort of just a really big family. Certain areas aren't very safe, but I feel like with with work, with government, that could be resolved, but overall it's a very nice community.
